The two varieties of Aduanehene onions grown in Ghana are Rosabella and Violet de Galmi. They are mostly grown in the Upper East Region and packed in 25kg sacks.

Branded Aduanehene onion are available in all key supermarkets and all the major onion markets in Ghana (Agbobloshie, Techiman, Kumasi Anloga, Kwadaso, Tamale, Bolga and Takoradi onion markets).

 

Galmi onion is flat, thick bulbs with beautiful pinkish-purple color; it also keeps well, making it a perfect choice as a short day onion.

Rosabella onion is equally a short day onion hybrid variety with high yield potential. The bulbs are red, uniform, medium-sized, pungent, very firm and have a globular shape. They are attractive and have excellent scale retention indicating very good storage characteristic.
